- You don’t have money. Got it.
- Self-loathing disguised as self-deprecation because they’d rather be doing important journalism that doesn’t involve an RSS feed.
- Complaints about being too insidery when they’re i______y.
- You like to drink. Got it.
- Don’t pretend to be hardcore. Just. Don’t. You can’t be hardcore if you’re able to post 8-12 times every day with some semblance of wit and acuity. You’re not HST.
- I’m sure media parties suck (the ones I’ve been at often do), but most people still want to go to them and drink free booze and eat kilted sausages.
- We know you have quotas, but don’t insult us with tired #tigersblood jokes in every other post
- The no money thing is even more infuriating when it’s obvious you’re boozing and eating out every night which takes money unless you’re going to those media parties.
A large percentage of the commenting can be ridiculous (except for most of the awl and hairpin) but online writers should come down off their lofty perch in a media CMS and not talk about them like they’re slime, unless they are slime, which actually happens a lot.Ignore this one. Commenting should only be done by a privileged few.- Don’t complain about your job so much. A lot of people have much crappier jobs. A LOT of people are unemployed. Many online writers get to stay at home in their PJ’s and write for a living. That’s not so bad.
- A lot of people know it’s a lot harder than it sounds or looks. A lot of people probably don’t. Those that respect what you do, deserve quality. So do it well and try and avoid the repetitive themes that can occur when a celebrity loses his/her mind.
- Those people that think THEY should be blogging or writing for that website they read every day; they always leave nasty comments and barrage the tip box and editors with emails about how shitty the writers are; yeah, they’re all assholes, and don’t understand how hard it is. IGNORE THEM.

Is there a PARTICULAR writer you are aiming this at? Because the multiple bullet points accusing people of being drunks is A) untrue B) vastly untrue in my experience. Disclosure: I’ve NEVER been paid to write for the internet.
